Community guidelines

Obscura Classics is a book club. These are the few rules that keep it a good place to think out loud about great books.

Be kind

• Disagree with ideas, not people. Argue for your reading; don’t attack someone else’s.
• No harassment, bullying, threats or hate. Nothing that targets people for who they are.
• Assume good faith, especially with people who are new to a book.

Flag spoilers

Many members are reading along week by week. If a post, reply or message gives away something that happens later, tick “Spoiler” so it stays blurred until someone chooses to read it. Tag the chapter you’re talking about in chat.

Keep it about the books

• Each book’s chat and board are for that book. Everything else goes in General or Off-topic.
• No advertising, selling or spam, and no links to other websites (they’re blocked).
• Don’t post the same thing over and over.

Respect privacy

• Don’t share anyone’s personal details, or private messages without permission.
• Be yourself: don’t pretend to be someone else.

If something’s wrong

Use Report on the post, reply, message or profile. A moderator will look at it. You can also block anyone: neither of you will see the other.

Moderators may hide content, and warn, mute, suspend or ban accounts. Members are always told what happened and why.
